Dental implant

An implant is an artificial root replacing the root of a missing tooth, a screw that is inserted directly into a hole prepared in the bone.

After healing, a special additional element, the so-called abutment, is placed above the gum, which replaces the stump of the tooth and holds the completed denture.

The material of a safe implant is medical titanium or zirconium, because it is important that it is tissue-friendly, so the bone responds well to it.

The products of manufacturers with a long history are proven to be durable, so they can eliminate the problem of missing teeth even for a lifetime.

Dental crown

The crown is used to restore a tooth if the tooth is damaged or the filling already affects several surfaces of the tooth.

The crown holds the tooth together, protects it from external influences and provides a suitable chewing surface.

Indications for making a crown:

large loss of tooth material (in the case of a broken tooth or extensive caries)

there is a larger, replaceable filling in the affected tooth, which cannot be restored in any other way

aesthetic reasons

If the teeth next to the missing tooth are still intact, we prefer implantation to replace the missing tooth. A crown is also placed on such implants at the end of the treatment.

What is a crown made of?

The crown has two parts:

One is a strong framework, which can be made of several materials such as metal, zirconium and emax, which holds and protects the tooth.

The other part is the porcelain covering, which patterns the chewing surface and restores the natural beauty of the tooth.

Dental bridge

A dental bridge is an aesthetic, fixed tooth replacement spanning a missing tooth, which is indissolubly fixed. The procedure was created to replace one or, in some cases, several missing teeth.

The bridge can be made for the remaining teeth, which must be reshaped in this case, as well as for implants, which will be the pillars of the bridge replacement.

In the case of an implant bridge, the implanted, healed implants provide the foundation of the bridge.

What does a dental bridge consist of?

Invisible orthodontics

Metal wires? Pain? Problem eating? Isn’t it a very aesthetic sight? A strained smile? Years of suffering?

Fortunately, braces are no longer a nightmare. The most modern devices enable almost or completely invisible and painless treatment.

In some cases, invisible orthodontic splints (so-called aligners) perfectly replace traditional systems, but they cannot be used in all cases, since aligners are made on the basis of a unique impression and aim to fit the teeth as tightly as possible.

It is generally recommended for adults or older teenagers.

Oral hygiene treatment

Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is the most modern technology for tartar removal.

The basis of the Swiss method is the “NO PAIN technology”, i.e. painless tartar removal even in patients with cervical sensitivity or periodontal disease.

In all cases, the treatment begins with making the biofilm visible, i.e. plaque painting. Based on the areas discolored by the paint, our hygienists show and refine the brushing technique individually.

With the GBT technology, we can not only effectively relieve gingivitis, but also achieve whiter teeth by removing discoloration on the teeth.

Tooth whitening

Teeth whitening can be done in a surgery or at home. In-surgery teeth whitening can be done with laser or a traditional teeth whitening gel. The home treatment is carried out with the help of a splint made by us and a whitening gel.

Before the treatment, we perform a professional tooth cleaning to determine the natural tooth color. The results of teeth whitening vary from person to person and depend on the structure of the enamel, the degree of discoloration, its causes, and the original color of the teeth.

If necessary, the treatment should be repeated annually, as the consumption of coffee, tea, red wine and nicotine can also lead to repeated discoloration of the teeth. Ceramic restorations and plastic fillings cannot be bleached.

Veneer

A veneer, or dental shell as it is also known, is an almost completely transparent, metal-free ceramic shell that is glued to the visible surface of the teeth, thereby giving the wearer a perfect, flawless appearance.

This natural-looking cover-up is made in a dental laboratory, individually just for you.

In general, it can be said that the shell made of ceramic does not have any harmful effects on health, as its material is well tolerated by the body.

The following minor defects can be easily corrected with dental veneers:

uneven position of the teeth,

gaps between teeth,

inappropriate tooth color or discolorations.

With the help of a shell, the visible tooth surface gets an ideal appearance and the tooth color can be improved in an individual way.

Temporary prosthesis

The goal of our surgery is to ensure that our patients are not left without teeth after crown/bridge preparation or implant placement, so in such cases we prepare temporary prosthesis for them.

It is made of plastic and are used until the final replacements are ready.

Its advantages:

ensuring the patient’s comfort,

satisfying his/her aesthetic needs

protection of the tooth extraction site, the prepared (reshaped) and therefore extremely sensitive stump, or the freshly inserted implant screw and its surroundings against external mechanical effects.

Aesthetic inserts (inlay, onlay, overlay)

An inlay is a glued special filling that is made by the dental technician based on an impression of the tooth, and then fixed in the tooth cavity by the dentist. Smaller than a crown but bigger than a filling. It takes three sessions to make it.

The insert is more expensive than a direct tooth filling, but its lifespan can be measured in decades. It is more durable and does not discolor.

We distinguish three major types:

Inlay: covers the central gap of the chewing surface of the tooth.

An onlay is needed when both the groove and the tips of the teeth are damaged.

The overlay is the insert that covers the largest surface, it covers the entire chewing surface, therefore it is also called a cover insert. The difference between a crown and an overlay is that the former surrounds the cervical areas, while the overlay does not.

Types of dentures

Fully removable:

in the case of complete tooth loss

it is made of special plastic, sometimes with metal elements

it rests on the mucosa bone and is held in place by facial muscles, vacuum action, gravity, and masticatory pressure

stable support of the removable prosthesis is often problematic in the case of the lower jaw, so in this case the use of dental implants is especially justified, since the masticatory stability improves significantly even with the implantation of 2-4 dental implants.

Partially removable:

we use it when we want to replace several missing teeth located next to each other, but the number or load capacity of the existing natural teeth does not allow the use of a traditional dental bridge.

it is based on a metal plate, on which the artificial gums and artificial teeth created by the dental technician are placed.

the attachment to the still existing teeth can be solved with clamps.

Combined dentures:

a combination of fixed and removable dentures.

if the patient does not have enough teeth in good condition to be able to make a bridge replacement for the entire jawbone and/or for some reason it is impossible to insert an implant, this is often the only solution.

first a fixed, glued bridge is made, on which usually hidden, precision anchoring devices, so-called sliders are placed by the dental technician. The removable denture part is connected to these with hidden anchoring.

Aesthetic filling

Aesthetic dental fillings can be used on both front teeth and chewing teeth. The type of tooth filling that will be the most suitable for solving your problem depends on the extent and location of the missing tooth substance.

The fillings are made of a light-binding composite material, the huge advantage of which is that the original color and shape of the teeth can be restored. The color of the aesthetic filling is customized or the same as the existing teeth, so it becomes completely invisible. Amalgam tooth filling is an increasingly rare procedure.

Although the filling is durable, it is aesthetically unsatisfactory and contains mercury, which is harmful to health. Over time, it causes a gray discoloration of the tooth. We therefore recommend replacing the existing amalgam fillings.

Tooth extraction

Tooth extraction is the dental or oral surgery operation during which the tooth or teeth are removed from the oral cavity for various reasons.

Most often:

advanced caries causing inflammation

instability, gums damaged by periodontal disease

impacted – not being able to break through the jawbone – tooth

inflammation around the root tip or cystic disease

teeth interfering with orthodontics

all can justify the removal of the affected tooth. Tooth extraction is performed under local anesthesia, and in some cases, more complicated oral surgical tooth removal is also performed under general anesthesia.

Wisdom tooth removal

Wisdom teeth are the third molars. For the unlucky ones, teeth that have developed and started to grow can even cause very serious complaints.

As with most dental problems, prevention is the best strategy for wisdom tooth problems. Wisdom tooth removal is ideal when it is not yet causing symptoms and is not inflamed.

This foresight can save you a lot of pain and discomfort. However, when you notice any complaints about your wisdom teeth, it is definitely recommended to have a panoramic X-ray or 3D CT scan taken as soon as possible, from which the position of the tooth and the stage of its growth can be accurately identified.

With the help of this, wisdom tooth removal becomes a well-planned process for a trained oral surgeon.

Symptoms that may indicate wisdom tooth removal:

Root canal treatment

This procedure is designed to save those teeth whose insides, i.e. the dental pulp, have died.

Death can be caused by many things. Most often, pulpitis (inflammation of dental pulp tissue) or a deep cavity is the cause of the problem, but it can also be caused by an injury caused by a strong blow.

In the past, teeth in which the dental pulp had died were unsalvageable and had to be extracted.

Today, however, teeth can be saved with root canal treatment.

Root canal treatment is a treatment during which the tooth root canal is cleaned, and then after disinfection, it is sealed along its entire length with a permanent filling.

After root canal treatment: The structure of root canal treated teeth changes, so they are more prone to cracking and breaking.

Fissure sealing

Fissure sealing is a preventive procedure, the essence of which is to provide a protective layer to the caries-prone, grooved surface of the chewing teeth, thereby preventing the development of caries.

Ideally, in the case of children, the tooth that is still free of caries and freshly erupted is treated, but the procedure can also be used later, if the tooth is intact.

The biggest advantage of fissure closure is that instead of the hard-to-clean surface of the new bone teeth, it creates an easy-to-clean surface.

The procedure is completely painless.
